How It Works Under the Hood

SetAura is powered by advanced AI. It has encyclopedic knowledge of music spanning every genre and decade, and understands the nuances of DJing: harmonic mixing, energy flow, crowd psychology, and what makes one track work after another.
Harmonic Key Wheel System
The Harmonic Key Wheel (also known as the Circle of Fifths in DJ notation) maps musical keys to a 12-position wheel with inner (A = minor) and outer (B = major) rings. Adjacent positions are harmonically compatible, allowing smooth transitions without musical clashes.
Dynamic BPM Mapping
Our genre BPM database automatically sets the right tempo range for your chosen genre — 170-180 for Drum & Bass, 90-100 for Reggaeton, 128-136 for Tech House. BPM progressions are natural, never jarring more than 4 BPM between consecutive tracks.
Energy Arc Modelling
Sets are modelled on proven energy progression frameworks — a warm opener, gradual build, peak moment at 60-70% through, cool-down, and a closing track that leaves the crowd wanting more. The animated SVG waveform arc uses a colour spectrum (indigo → orange → purple) to show energy at a glance.
Mix Transition Scoring
Every track-to-track transition is scored algorithmically: harmonic key distance (0–10), BPM delta, and energy shift. The system flags ROUGH transitions so DJs can fix problem spots before they play — like a flight simulator for your set.
Occasion & Gig Context
Tell SetAura where you're playing — Club Main Room, Festival, After Party, Small Bar, House Party, Radio Mix, or Mixtape — and it factors that into track selection and pacing (Festival sets get an automatic peak-heavy arc). Add optional gig details like venue capacity, slot type, and crowd age for even sharper picks.
Hype Signal Scoring
Tracks are scored against three live data signals — Beatport genre chart position (top 100), bestseller purchase rank, and a curated top-artist flag. These signals stack with harmonic and BPM scores to surface trending, proven tracks at the right moments in your set.
